Ade (2019)

In May 2019 I was asked to undertake a month long residency with the Melbourne Letting Club by taking over their social media accounts. I jumped at the chance to be able to share a little bit of insight into my work and process.

As I always love a bit of a challenge, I decided to not just talk about my process, but instead show it by designing a new typeface and document its creation through each post. Taking people on the journey, I began with a bit of iterative brainstorming, from there I expanded a few of my favourite letters into a few more before working to create the entire alphabet.

In true Barry fashion, I became entranced by the process itself, which led to 3 subtle variations of each letter, Block, Line and Deconstruct.
