SELECTED FINALIST NO VACANCY ANNUAL 2025
‘In Context: Echo’, presents a series of ceramic objects that combine hand thrown forms with pen plotter etched typographic elements written in ‘Echo’, one of my custom exploratory typefaces.
Delving deep into the experimental process, trial and error & problem solving, these objects blend multiple aspects of my creative practice while pushing it into new dimensional territories.
Individually each vessel takes on its own unique shape while also presenting, across the three vessels, a small portion of a larger excerpt taken from my book ‘Speculatype’, discussing the perceived understanding & creation of exploratory letterforms.
Measuring approx. 26 x 20 x 14cm as a set. (This will vary depending on how you display them).
Series of 3 vessels, glazed with a mottled green glaze and fired to 1280°C.

These objects are deliberately designed to play with the boundaries of context & obscurity. Does placing the vessels together provide context and understanding? Does separating each vessel create their own presence and space as art objects, yet lead to a loss of understanding and message?
