‘Future Relic: Hiero’ Framed Plottery Tablet

$575.00

Exploring concepts of simulated history and future discovery, this framed typographic ceramic artwork uses a pen plotter machine with handmade tool to etch a paragraph about letterform perception (taken from my book 'Speculatype') into slab rolled clay. Written using my custom exploratory typeface 'Hiero', this piece forms part of my ongoing exploration of letterforms, code and clay.

Carved with a pen plotter (CNC drawing machine), refined by hand to crafted finish then glazed with a blue/green glaze and fired to 1280°C, this piece measures approx 250 x 380mm framed.

With ceramic objects potentially lasting for hundreds, if not, thousands of years, there is a fun thought that this artwork could be discovered as an undeciphered lost script eons in the future.
